The only rig I have left for HF is my beloved Swan! :)
Just bought this beatiful Cubic/Astro 103 from USA (serial: A103 115) and so happy for it! Been looking for this rig since 1979 when I saw a 102BX in my old hometown of Harnosand. Specifications of the rig at K9GDT's nice Swan website. As you know I have had lots expensive and rare rigs here, but this 103 is something special. Such nice layout, simple clean look and yet so appealing. Will be great getting it here and I am going to take lots pics of it inside out. Update 20080514: Got the rig from US and it works great! So sweet and easy to listen at, extremely clean rx. Now have to do some maintenance and then get it on the air. I am also using the Idiom Press SCAF-1 filter (seen at the side) for both SSB and CW to sharpen up the rx even more. Outstanding audio filter it is with -90db skirts, beats anything around with ease... Update 20081019: Got me the rare ST-3B antenna tuner for the rig and also the equally rare ST-2B QRO tuner for the 1500ZA linear. If anyone out there have useful info about the 103, please email. I am also looking for another Astro 103 and the the 1500 ZA linear amplifier. If you have any of these for sale or know were to find, please let me know. 73's de Peter / SM5HUA <email> |
